"This is from the Nov. 15th 1952 question from readers. This is directly from the CD btw:
Questions from Readers
•In the case of where a father or mother or son or daughter is disfellowshiped ,how should such person be treated by members of the family in their family relationship?—P.C.,Ontario,Canada.
We are not living today among theocratic nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for apostasy from God and his theocratic organization,as was possible and was ordered in the nation of Israel in the wilderness of Sinai and in the land of Palestine. "Thou shalt surely kill him; thy hand shall be first upon him to put him to death, and afterwards the hand of all the people. And thou shalt stone him to death with stones, because he hath sought to draw thee away from Jehovah thy God, . . . And all Israel shall hear, and fear, and shall do no more any such wickedness as this is in the midst of thee."—Deut. 13:6-11,AS.
Being limited by the laws of the worldly nation in which we liveand also by the laws of God through Jesus Christ, we can take action against apostates only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with both sets of laws. The law of the land and God’s law through Christ forbid us to kill apostates, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship. However, God’s law requires us to recognize their being disfellowshiped from his congregation, and this despite the fact that the law of the land in which we live requires us under some natural obligation to live with and have dealings with such apostates under the same roof."

Marrying a Black Person
by ThomasCovenant inwe are not living today among aryan nations where such members of our fleshly family relationship could be exterminated for marrying a black, as was possible and was ordered in the early days of apartheid.. being limited by the laws of the new south african nation in which we live, we can take action against those who marry blacks only to a certain extent, that is, consistent with current laws.
the law of the land forbids us to kill them, even though they be members of our own flesh-and-blood family relationship.

one reason for the dumbing down of the org
by Magnum ina lot of us have said that theres been a dumbing down in jw land.
its just not like it used to be especially a few decades ago.
it seems to me that if jw are right and the end of the world is near, the spiritual food should get tastier and more nourishing as time goes on, but it's getting more and more bland and less nourishing.

"I have no idea what generation means anymore...lol...is there still a celestial phenomenon coming?I know there's not an evil slave class.I'm glad about that one.The apostates seem to have gotten a demotion.:-)
Yep...lots of changes and yet the truth is so much simpler to share with others.Hand them a tract...ask a couple questions...read a scripture...simple!"

Theists, why does God allow suffering..
by The Quiet One in..specifically, the suffering of animals.
you can talk about free will/sin/people choosing to not listen to god etc to explain human suffering being allowed.. but how can you love a god that allows animals, that haven't sinned or chosen to not have anything to do with god, to have their short lives ended in often long, drawn out, painful ways.
i could list stories i've read that would probably make you feel ill, but i'm not looking to shock anyone or start an emotional debate.

One final point.
Seraphim said:
"God can either move you out of the way of the lightning, change where the lightning will strike, or warn you not to go out in the first place. Sometimes people get premonitions of danger and so don’t get on the plane that will later crash for example. With this method free will is not affected, as the person still has a choice to ignore the warning or not. "
Seraphim also said:
"I do admit that God can intervene in disasters without affecting free will and he does in my view, just not all disasters all of the time, as that would create issue for free will."
Putting these statements together, you admit that God COULD warn people about a future natural disaster and let them decide whether to avoid it, without affecting free will.
You then say he DOES NOT do that all of the time because of the issue of free will.
Therefore if (theoretically speaking) mankind were to develop a flawless and 100% reliable natural disaster predicting device, that could warn people of any and all deadly earthquakes/tornadoes/etc in time for people to avoid or flee from them, would you say that it should not be used all of the time, as it would be harmful to free will? -

Oh, and Cofty, is this kind of argument in your 108 page thread somewhere, or is it a new one to you?
Because I am lost.. -

Is there a Creator who gives a s*** about you?
by DATA-DOG in....why your child died, or you have cancer, or lost friends to a mudslide, tsunami, car accident, flood, tornado, hurricane or senseless act of violence.
why your child was molested, or you were molested, or you were slandered by an elder, or boe, or the gb.
why children die of starvation everyday, why faithful xians die every day, some mauled by dogs in field circus.

Is there a Creator who cares?..
Evidently not. -

How We Come Across On The Board
by minimus inmost people here have never met you.
we converse, discuss, argue, laugh, agree, question, share our lives..... quite often, you kind of get to know what a person is like.
some people, we tend to gravitate to and others, we shy away from.. how do you think you come across to other people?

This new JW video is so stupid that it has to be a troll
by Pacopoolio inrecently, my mother, who had stopped talking to me because i was 'apostate,' started speaking to me again.. (note that i successfully faded as opposed to ever being disfellowshipped due to dodging every elder question with "i'm not sure, i'm still searching and trying to find the answers.").
the reason why?
at the international convention this year, they receieved a new video called something or other.

I love how witnesses idea of simplifying their lives involves mooching off of wealthy brothers who are simultaneously in trouble for being too materialistic.
"You're spend too much time at work, by the way can I live for free in the basement apartment of your huge house while at the same time being condescending".
How many pioneers are supported by working for the witness in the hall who has his own business."

"Yet if it wasn’t for such processes there would be no sharks to fill their niche in the highly competitive eco system, as the sharks would have died out because of unfit sharks being picked off to extinction. So it also keeps suffering to a minimum when one thinks about it. Certain chemicals that block pain when an organism is under attack more than likely also minimise suffering in the shark. What an amazing thing nature is!"

"So the only way your god could think of to produce fit sharks was to have them fight to the death in the womb."
.. Before the thread was diverted again by off-topic comments, an excellent point was made here that is worth repeating. Why would God not be able to design sharks in a way that they could come out of the womb strong enough to protect themselves, without having to kill hundreds of their siblings? Seraphims chaos theory mumbo jumbo seems to indicate that God has left us all to suffer in endless ways because He can't think of a better way to run things. -

(Excuse me, but what the hell is happening to this thread??
Anyway..)
"If there no activity on earth in the interplay between order and chaos, there would be nothing to choose because there would be nothing."
No natural disasters does not equal zero activity. You still haven't explained why God had to let people die when the Tsunami happened in order for life to exist.
